Professional Experience
Raghib Hussain’s vast technical expertise coupled with astute entrepreneurial skills make for a classic Silicon Valley success story. He’s best known for founding Cavium Inc. (CAVM) and taking it public in 2007. He led the company as Chief Technology Officer from inception and catapulted it to its status as a leader in the security and multi-core processor space, competing with Intel, and Broadcom. Later, as Chief Operating Officer, he guided product strategy and business operations, and was responsible for the company’s strategic direction which led to an annual revenue run rate of $1B and ultimately a successful acquisition by Marvell at a valuation of $6.6B.
Raghib has been brilliant in identifying crucial pain points in data infrastructure paving the way for widespread adoption of the internet for corporate usage. Raghib’s innovations in cyber security came long before Cavium. As a college student in the early 1990’s, he had both the foresight and engineering proficiency to implement a general-purpose file virus protection system and secure boot utility, demonstrating ability to efficiently create elegant solutions in security. Fast-forward to today, and alongside leading Marvell’s strategy and business, Raghib is working to solve problems faced by mega scale networking and computing including artificial intelligence, power efficient computing, and software defined distributed networking.
When he’s not securing the internet, or making artificial intelligence accessible for all, Raghib is passionate about giving back to the community. He founded Koshish, a non-profit organization that sponsors research chairs, provides mentoring, virtual learning, scholarships, and improves projects in low-income suburbs. Among other causes, he is s a supporter of the ChildLife Foundation, The Silicon Valley Education Fund, Green Scholars, GiveLight Foundation, Doctors without Borders, and the Citizens Foundation. He also serves at RAND Center for Asia Pacific Policy Advisory Board.
